How to troubleshoot "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" errors on a ACQUITY SM-FTN - WKB19544
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Troubleshoot "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" errors on an SM-FTN.
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY Premier
- ACQUITY ARC
- ACQUITY ARC Bio
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio
- ACQUITY UPLC I-Class
PROCEDURE
- Stop all flow on the ACQUITY.
- Remove connections on port 2 (T12) , Port 3( T11) and Port 4 (needle/ loop) on the inject pod.
- Reset to clear all errors.
- Prime the sample syringe for five cycles and ensure that liquid is coming out of the PEEK fitting you removed from port 3.
- If a "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" error shows up, the blockage is somewhere around the sample syringe, the metering syringe valve, or the transducer and its tubing.
- If no error appears, reconnect the PEEK fitting to port 3. Keep port 2 and 4 removed.
- Prime the sample syringe for five cycles and ensure that liquid is coming out of port 2.
- If a "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" error shows up, the blockage is in the inject pod.
- If no error appears, reconnect the PEEK fitting to port 2. Keep the port 4 fitting removed.
- Prime the sample syringe for five cycles and ensure that liquid is coming out of the grey waste tubing connected to the QSM/BSM drip tray.
- If a "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" error shows up, the blockage is in the purge line check valve assembly (it is made of tan PEEK and has an arrow on it - 700009513).
- If no error appears, reconnect the metal fitting to port 4.
- Prime the sample syringe for five cycles. Midway through a prime cycle, while the syringe is filling with liquid, reset the SM-FTN to stop the prime.
- Wait for the SM-FTN to finish resetting; at the end of the reset cycle, the syringe will try to home. If a "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" error shows up, the blockage is in the needle.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If it is impossible to clear the "Sample Fluidics High Pressure Limit" error on the SM-FTN even after removing all fittings, the problem may be with the transducer. (700006063) Two clues can help identify the transducer as the problem:
- The number next to the error is at the limit of the transducer measurable range (299-300).
- When power-cycling the SM-FTN, the module errors out and triggers a blinking red LED on the front within five seconds of being turned on.
It is possble that there is a blockage in the INJ pod at the Port 4 outlet.
If any doubt repeat line 13 with port 4 disconnected, if there is a failure, suspect the INJ Pod.
