Why are my Sampling Rate options only 1 or 2 points/sec when switching wavelength mode from Single to Dual? - WKB1679

Article number: 1679

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • 2487 Dual-Wavelength Absorbance Detector
  • 2489 UV/Vis Detector
  • ACQUITY UPLC Tunable UV Detector (TUV)

ANSWER

  • In Single Wavelength Mode, the options for Sampling Rate are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80.
  • In Dual Wavelength Mode, the options for Sampling Rate are 1, 2.

The reason for this is because the grating has to actually move in between the two wavelengths, so it has to be at a much slower rate to make up for the physical moving of the grating.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The TUV detector can only have data rates of 1 and 2 Hz when operating in dual wavelength mode. This limitation is due to the physical time it tales for the detector to take measurements at both wavelengths rather than a single wavelength.

This data rate cannot be increased whilst still operating in dual wavelength mode.

For single wavelength mode data rates of up to 80 Hz are available.
