SYMPTOMS

• No communication with the ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager
• 5: Alarm Type: 51, Power supply h/w fault ({0:F1}), (30.02), (null) (Aquired via RS232 on startup)

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager

CAUSE

Faulty personality PCB

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Measure the voltage output of the power supply and confirm that it is in fact performing as expected.
2. Replace the personality PCB (700003576).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In this particular case, the component at fault was the personality PCB, even though the error message indicated that a PSU provided voltages out of the expected range.

It is important to note that the "Power supply h/w fault" message could in a different case actually indicate that the PSU voltage is out of range. To confirm if a PSU is providing the correct voltaget, always check with a digital voltmeter.
