H-Class System dynamic leak test fails - WKB15309

SYMPTOMS

• System dynamic leak test (DLT) fails to pressurize or compress When compression occurs, the accumulator actuator suffers very high leaks, above 11,000 psi.
  • QSM DLT passes New sample needle, inject valve/pod, and needle seat/seal SM-FTN calibrations and seal characterization pass.
  • Instrument fails to compress at 14,000 psi and cannot complete system DLT.
  • Pressure rises to ~13700 psi, drops to ~1000 psi, and then compresses again, forming a wave shape on the pressure trace Bypass vent valve: QSM repeatedly passes system DLT (values of 62 nL/min Accumulator and 23 nL Primary leak rates) Vent valve connected: DLT Accumulator leak rate is ~16,900 nL/min.

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY H-Class QSM ACQUITY H-Class FTN.

CAUSE

Faulty vent valve cartridge (pod); rotor seal unable to hold pressure (no compression). Intermittent leaking at port 1 tubing of vent valve (contributes to occasionally high leak rate).

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Replace part number 700002660 for the "ASSY, CARTRIDGE, VENT VALVE" in the QSM.

2. Replace the following tubing assemblies to manage suspected leaks at high-pressure fittings:

• 430002316 - ASSY, TUBE,  XDUCER - VENT VALVE, QSM 430002319 - ASSY, TUBE, VENT VALVE P2 TO FILTER, QSM 430002452 - ASSY, TUBING, GP PUMP OUTLET.
