"Column temperature range" error on ACQUITY Column Heater - Active and Arc 30cm Column Heater - WKB14737

SYMPTOMS

• Alarm band error.
  • Alarm band acceptable limit  = +/- 1 ºC< Alarm band acceptable limit  = +/- 5 ºC.
  • Selected temp = 25.0 ºC Ambient temp  = 25.0 ºC Message Center shows the error with 25.7 ºC.

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Column Heater - Active (CH-A)
• ACQUITY UPLC 30cm Column Heater - Active (CH-30A)
• Arc 30cm Column Heater

CAUSE

Electronics waste heat causes the sample compartment to be slightly warmer than ambient temperature. Since these modules do not have an active cooling option the compartment cannot reach the requested temperature, hence generating an error

FIX or WORKAROUND

Program the column compartment temperature to a set point that is 5 ºC above ambient.
