SYMPTOMS

• Getting an Empower 2998 detector error - Autoexposure time too high

ENVIRONMENT

• 2998 PDA detector

CAUSE

Something has reduced the amount of light transmitting through the flow cell and prevented the detector from getting enough light exposure to the diodes.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Flush the detector, preferably with fresh organic mobile phase to sweep out any air bubbles or dirty solvent in the flow cell.
2. Power cycle the detector, so that it can reinitialize with fresh mobile phase in the flow cell.
