SYMPTOMS

• No peak observed when making an injection using Empower 3
• Peak observed when sample is manually pushed through the flow cell

CAUSE

The mobile phase solvents are 100% water, more than one week old, and/or of unknown composition.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Prepare fresh solvents.
2. Prime each line for five minutes.
3. Prime, purge, and wash solvents; 30-50 cycles for purge solvent and 60 seconds for wash solvent.
4. Characterize the needle seal.
5. Make a test injection.
