Unreproducible injections on ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager due to suboptimal needle height setting - WKB124070

SYMPTOMS

• Some injections of the same standard sample show significant peak area variation
• Sample Manager diagnostic tests pass repeatedly
• Sample vials with inserts are in use

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle 
• ACQUITY Premier System

CAUSE

With the combination of vials and inserts in use, the default needle height setting is suboptimal. The sample needle touches the bottom of the vial, which leads to inaccurate sample aspiration.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Increase the needle height setting (e.g., 1 mm) in the inlet method.
