Error: "Unable to maintain pressure" or "Unable to compress" during Dynamic Leak Test - WKB12201

Article number: 12201

SYMPTOMS

"Unable to maintain pressure" or "Unable to compress" error during the Dynamic Leak Test on the ACQUITY Solvent Manager occurs even when the pump seems to be working fine and delta is low (below 30 psi). Pressure appears normal, then random pressure drops occur.

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC BSM
  • ACQUITY I-Class BSM
  • ACQUITY H-Class BSM
  • ACQUITY H-Class QSM
  • ACQUITY APC Isocratic Solvent Manager

CAUSE

Faulty i2V check valve on the primary pump

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Replace i2v cartridge.
  2. Prime solvents.
  3. Ensure that dynamic leak test passes.
  4. Confirm that delta psi at operating pressure is suitable.
