Can air be used as a carrier gas in ELS detectors? - WKB11458

Article number: 11458

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2420 ELSD.
  • 2424 ELSD, ACQUITY ELSD.

ANSWER

Yes, zero-grade, oil-free, filtered air at a constant regulated supply pressure (448.16 to 689.48 kPa [4.48 to 6.89 bar, 65 to 100 psi]) can be used.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Other carrier gases may be used at the same supply pressure specified for air.

  • Nitrogen with a purity of 98% or better Other inert gases.

Warning:   Do not use non-inert gases. In particular, do not use gases that would allow the combustion solvents and/or the oxidation of samples Refer to the 2424 Evaporative Light Scattering Detector Operator’s Guide.
