ACQUITY UPLC system over pressure - WKB113364
SYMPTOMS
- The system pressure is over the MAX limit with flow rate established in analytical method
ENVIRONMENT
- ACQUITY UPLC I-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
- ACQUITY UPLC
CAUSE
Clog in system flow path
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Find the clogged tubings and replace them
-
Remove the probe tubing from the MS divert valve.
-
Remove the LC tubing from the MSdivert valve.
-
Remove the other end of the LC tubing from the UV detector output.
-
Remove the tubing from the UV detector input.
-
Remove the other end of the UV detector input tubing from the column or column manager.
-
If a column manager is present, switch it to bypass.
-
If the issue is present only when not in bypass, or if not column manager prsent, remove the column.
-
If a column manager is present, remove the active preheater from the inlet valve of the manager.
-
Remove the active preheater or column manager input tubing from the injection valve.
-
Switch the injection valve to both the load and inject positions.
-
Remove the pump outlet tubing from the inject valve.
-
Remove the pump outlet tubing from the mixer.
-
Remove the mixer.
-
Remove the mixer inlet tubing from the vent valve output.
-
Remove the pump head outlet tubing from the vent valve inlet.
-
Remove the pump head outlet tubing from the accumlator check valve.
By this point, you will either have found the blockage or isolated it to the pump head
-
- Flush the system with Magic Mix (25% water, 25% methanol, 25% acetonitrile, 25% isopropanol).
- Replace the column.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Bacteria will grow in pure aqueous mobile phase if the system is shut down for more than a week.
