"Zp-Axis home h/w fault" on an ACQUITY FTN - WKB100060

SYMPTOMS

  • "Zp-Axis home h/w fault" error message
  • Resetting the sample manager does not resolve the issue
  • Plate configuration did not change

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS Bio
  • ACQUITY UPLC H-Class PLUS
  • ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)
  • ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle (SM-FTN)

CAUSE

The needle was not latched in place on the needle carriage.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Put the needle back into the needle carriage. The needle should align in the notches as shown below:

2. Turn the latch clockwise so it is horizontal along the needle carriage and the needle is in place.

3. Power-cycle the FTN.

4. Perform Z-Axis calibration.

5. Characterize the needle seal.
