Cannot reset device in UNIFI - WKB254815

SYMPTOMS

  • MS summary panel shows error that reads "Communication with the instrument control system has failed, waiting for communication to be re-established.  If unresolved after 10 minutes, turn Xevo G2-XS QTof off and on or contact an engineer"; see example image:

  • Instrument System summary panel shows Status of System Error and Startup Error with a current analysis listed
  • Reset Device option for the workstation is dimmed (unavailable) under Device Management
  • Unable to take Instrument system offline in Device Management

ENVIRONMENT

  • waters_connect 1.9.13
  • Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

Lost communication

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Exit out of the software.
  2. Reboot the workstation.
  3. Wait five minutes before launching waters_connect/UNIFI.
  4. Log in to waters_connect/UNIFI.
  5. In UNIFI, launch Administration.
  6. Go to the Device Management option.
  7. Go to the Instrument Systems tab and change the status from Online to Offline.
  8. Go to the Workstation tab.
  9. Select the workstation computer and right-click to bring up the menu to select Reset Device.
  10. When Reset Device is complete, ensure that the workstation status reads "Online".
  11. Go back to the Instrument Systems tab and change the status from Offline to Online.
  12. Go back to the Instrument Console and check for control.
