How to increase tablespace in an Oracle database using Waters Database Manager - WKB25053
Article number: 25053
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Increase tablespace in an Oracle database using Waters Database Manager (WDM).
ENVIRONMENT
- UNIFI server 1.8.x (minimum)
- Waters_Connect server
- Not workstation
- NuGenesis 9
- WDM 4.x
PROCEDURE
- Log in to WDM
- Click the "Server" button
- Click "Datafiles"
- Search for the datafile(s) of interest by their tablespace name
- Example: WATSTREAMBLOB, for Waters_Connect
- To increase the max size of a data file:
- Access edit from the pen symbol next to the WATSTREAMBLOB datafile
- The default size is set to 70% of the total available. For larger databases, this can be set to 80 or 90%
(Warning never set to 100% or larger - this will fill the ASM datastore completely and require disk addition/expansion - not always possible) - Set the new Maximum size, and then click Apply
- Access edit from the pen symbol next to the WATSTREAMBLOB datafile
- To add a new data file to the tablespace:
- Note the name, full path, initial size, max size, and increment of the highest-numbered data file in the tablespace
- Click Servers, then Tablespaces
- Search for the tablespace of interest
- Click the "manage datafiles" link to the left of the table entry
- Enter the same values for initial size, max size, and increment by as noted in step 1
- Enter the same path and base file name for the new data file. Increment the file number by 1.
- Click the Add button
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Notes:
- Ensure that there is sufficient space for the other datafiles to grow. If you are unsure, contact the Waters GSS Informatics team for advice.
- Waters recommends that database size not exceed 11 TB, due to the backup times required for the full database.
