"Instrument EPC failure" error in UNIFI - WKB109885

SYMPTOMS

• Error "Instrument EPC failure. The instrument EPC is currently in an indeterminate state. Perform a reboot of the instrument EPC to clear this fault"in UNIFI.

ENVIRONMENT

• UNIFI 1.9.4
• Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

Issue with VxWorks

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Exit from UNIFI.
2. Open the DHCP Server Configuration application. For UNIFI, it's located in the (drive):\Program Files\Waters\Unifi\Server\Bin folder.
3. Remove the MS from the list.
4. Create a "phony" MassLynx folder on the C: drive and copy into it the VxWorks folder from UNIFI. The VxWorks folder for UNIFI is at (drive):\Program Files\Waters\UNIFI\Server\Xevo G2XS QTof.
5. Put the MS in pump over-ride state and reset electronics.
6. Ensure that the MS appears in the DHCP Server Configuration application with the correct serial number.
7. Open UNIFI and verify communication. Ensure that the IP address for the MS is the same in the DHCP Server Configuration application [(drive):\Program Files\Waters\Unifi\Server\Bin folder], the UNIFI\Administration\Device Management "Manage Instruments" tab, and the "Configure DHCP Server" tab.
8. Switch off pump over-ride mode.
9. Rename the C:\MassLynx folder to C:\MassLynxold.
