In EDS365, some systems show duplicate System Usage figures - WKB8655

Article number: 8655

SYMPTOMS

  • Some systems show duplicate figures in system usage metrics

ENVIRONMENT

  • EDS365

CAUSE

The issue stems from the fact that the system name is unique only when paired with the node. For example, you can have multiple "SYSTEM_A" system names within Empower that will be distinguished by their node. In the screenshot below, EDS365 cannot distinguish whether GC_ETC_03 on Node A is the same as GC_ETC_03 on Node B.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. The doubling up of the figures when a system is on two nodes is not something we can currently change in EDS365 because the INJECTIONS table in Empower contains the system name but not the node name.
  2. When we extract the data, EDS365 cannot determine which node the injections were collected on.
  3. The screenshot below shows an example where the system resides on two separate nodes, with the same name. Therefore, because EDS365 has no way to determine if, for example, Node A had 11 injections and Node B had 20 injections, it reports the same figures for both.

  4. The dashboard page "System - Name Exceptions" has an analysis ("Exception - Duplicate Systems Details") that highlights for you any systems that have been used on more than one node. It is therefore a way of flagging that this project may need in-house understanding when reviewing usage and so forth.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This isse cannot be rectified without updating the Empower database.
