The NuGenesis SDMS Archive Agent does not start automatically after a reboot of a file capture agent computer - WKB89123

Article number: 89123

SYMPTOMS

  • Archive Agent does not start automatically after a computer reboot

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The RPC service needs to start later in the boot process.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Set the NuGenesis RPC service to "Delayed Start":

  1. In Windows Services, select the NuGenesis RPC Service.
  2. Right-click on the service and click Properties from the menu.
  3. In the properties window general page, select the down arrow for startup type.
  4. Select Automatic (Delayed Start).
  5. Select OK and exit the Services window.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Delayed-start services start automatically on system start, just like automatic-start services, but only after all of the auto-start services have started. Setting the RPC service to a delayed start will ensure that the RPC Service does not start prematurely. In some cases, it may be necessary to increase the delayed-start interval beyond the default. To set a custom interval for the NuGenesis RPC service:

  1. Open RegEdit.
  2. Open the key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NuGenesis RPC.
  3. Right-click and select New \ DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  4. Set the name to AutoStartDelay.
  5. Double-click AutoStartDelay.
  6. Change base to Decimal, and set value to 240000.
  7. Save and exit.
  8. Restart the NuGenesis RPC service.
