Error "javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException: unexpected element ..." appears when saving a document in NuGenesis LMS - WKB77541

SYMPTOMS

• The following error message appears when saving documents in NuGenesis LMS:

  • “javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException: unexpected element (uri:"", local:"lockDate"). ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 LMS

CAUSE

The NuGenesis LMS client is at a higher/newer hotfix level than the LMS server (for example, an LMS client at 8.0 SR2 HF7 connected to a server at 8.0 SR2 HF6).

FIX or WORKAROUND

Upgrade the LMS server to match the hotfix level of the client.

All NuGenesis LMS client installations must be at the same version. Connecting LMS software at different versions is not supported, not even for minor differences such as Hotfix 6 vs. Hotfix 7.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In NuGenesis 8 LMS SR2 Hotfix 7, a change was made to the communication protocol between the server and client. One extra parameter is sent from the client to the server when saving documents. The Hotfix 7 client sent this extra parameter, but the Hotfix 6 was not prepared to receive it.
