A group of files that includes an NG$ file is stuck in the NuGenesis TE_TEMP folder for an extended period of time - WKB74208

Article number: 74208

SYMPTOMS

  • A group of files with an NG$ file is stuck in TE_TEMP for an extended period of time.
  • The same NuGenesis file capture server is capturing new data without issue

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS

CAUSE

The AA module was interrupted while it was capturing files into TE_TEMP.
The NG$ file is placed in the TE_TEMP while all files for a report being captured are verified correct in TE_TEMP.
Once all failsafe checks are made, the NG$ it changed to NGD.
If anything interrupts the AA (such as a reboot of the server, a restart of the NuGen RPC, or running out of disk space) before the file is changed to NGD, the file will remain in TE_TEMP until it is manually removed.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Stop the AA module and wait for the TE module to finish removing all other NGD files out of TE_TEMP.
Note: If there are any Mark_bad files, work with those first before continuing.
  2. Remove all files out of TE_TEMP, saving only the NG$ file in a location outside of the TE_TEMP folder.
  3. Open each NG$ file and use the metadata in the file to confirm that the file or files being referenced were captured into the system on a subsequent run.
  4. If the files are confirmed to be captured in the system, the NG$ file can also be deleted.
  5. If the files have not been captured, the system must be prompted to capture the files again.
