How to configure a data channel port range for an FTP site in Microsoft IIS - WKB63117

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Set a range of port numbers for an FTP server to use when establishing passive-mode FTP connections.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 or 9 SDMS with Managed Storage locations

PROCEDURE

  1. Configure the FTP site:
    1. Open IIS Manager.
    2. Select the server name.
    3. Double-click on FTP Firewall Support.
    4. Specify a range of numbers (for example, 3000-3500) in the Data channel Port Range box and click Apply.
    5. Restart the Microsoft FTP service.
  2. Configure the Windows Firewall:
    1. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
    2. Click Inbound Rules.
    3. Click New rule.
    4. Choose the rule type "Port" and click Next.
    5. On the Protocols and Ports page, select TCP, and specify the same port range given in the IIS configuration.
    6. Specify a name for the rule and click Finish.
