How to install and configure the "Print on Signoff to NuGenesis" option in Empower - WKB53056

Article number: 53056

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Configure the "Print on Signoff" option in Empower. This option automatically prints the result report when a user signs off on results in Empower.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • Empower 3
  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS

PROCEDURE

Installation requirements for the Empower client:

  1. NuGenesis UNIFY
  2. NuGenesis SDMS SDK
  3. NuGenesis SDMS Service Release
  4. A "NuGenesis SDMS Interface" license must be activated in Empower.
  5. Copy the file "NG80ToolkitLoginKey.exe" from one of the NuGenesis 8 discs to the Drive:\Empower\bin folder:
    • NuGenesis 8 LMS SR2 Base Media, part 667005472 revision A
    • NuGenesis 8 LMS Power of Two, part 667005405 revision A
  6. Install the UNIFY hotfix for 64-bit printing on the Empower client. Obtain this hotfix from the NuGenesis 8 LMS Power of Two disc.
  7. With Administrator rights, in a command prompt, run the following command:
    • NG80ToolkitLoginKey.exe ON

Empower configuration:

  1. Log in to Empower and open the Configuration Manager.
  2. Click the View menu > SDMS Archive Properties.
  3. Select the appropriate NuGenesis UNIFY printer from the drop-down list.
  4. Enter the URL for SDMS Web Vision.
    • Use the HTTPS URL if using Empower 3 FR4 or later and NuGenesis 8 SR2 or later
    • Use the HTTP URL if using Empower 3 prior to FR4
  5. Click the Connect button.
  6. Select the NuGenesis Server Location, Server, Project, View, and Template from the list. Empower uses these settings for all reports printed through the Print on Signoff function.
  7. Click OK.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If the connection is not successful even after following the procedure and ensuring that all of the NuGEnesis SDMS services are online, reset the password for the "ngprojmgr" account in SDMS to the default password. Run the following command in the SQL*Plus prompt:

ALTER USER ngprojmgr IDENTIFIED BY manager1;

If the UNIFY hotfix is not installed, UNIFY cannot recognize the print job as coming from Empower, so it cannot use the settings as saved to the Empower system policies in the Configuration Manager; instead, UNIFY displays the Manual Mode dialog box, or it operates in batch mode.

If problems exist in NuGenesis 9, set the WatersService on the Empower client to disabled, reboot the server and then the e-sign print with save successfully.
WatersService is responsible for secure transfer of chromatographic data. On LAC/E it transfers data to rawdata share. It is also responsible for moving data between projects and creating projects. Only WatersService has read/write access to raw datashare. Users have only read access. It is not used on clients unless they are acquisition clients (that is, unless they are connected to an instrument.)
