Article number: 49688
OBJECTIVE or GOAL
Configure a "Raid" type device in NuGenesis Offline Storage Manager (OSM).
ENVIRONMENT
- NuGenesis 9 SDMS
- NuGenesis 8 SDMS
PROCEDURE
- Log in to the NuGenesis Service Configuration Console (SCC).
- Select the Offline Storage Manager module.
- Click the Device Configuration tab.
- Click the Create button.
- Specify the device name and description.
- Select the Device Type (recommendation: "Raid". See the additional information for a discussion of the device types).
- Select a local drive letter for the device. The drive letter need not match the device's actual storage location on the network as OSM does not use the local drive for either storage or retrieval of data; however, the OSM configuration does require a local drive letter. It can be a mapped drive.
- Specify the UNC path (example: \\servername\sharename) into the Device Path (UNC) field. OSM will use this path for storing and retrieving data to/from the device.
- Click the Add button.
- (NG8 SDMS SR1) Click the Volume Management tab, select the new device, and click Set New Volume.
- Not applicable to NG9, NG8 FR1, or NG8 SR2
- Click the Save button.
