Error "A connection must be established before attempting this operation" appears in the NuGenesis Archive Agent log when archiving Empower 3 projects - WKB32487

SYMPTOMS

• The following error appears in the Archive Agent log file for Empower-3 template lines:
  • "A connection must be established before attempting this operation"
• No projects are archived from the Empower 3 systems

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS
• NuGenesis 8 Data Adapters R3 or prior releases
• Empower 3 Feature Release 4 (FR4)

CAUSE

The Empower data adapters in NuGenesis 8 Data Adapters R3 and earlier versions are not compatible with Empower 3 FR4.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Download NuGenesis 8 DA R3 Hotfix 1 from the Waters website and install it on the Empower 3 remote machine.
2. The projects should be archived upon the next scheduled archive interval following the installation of the hotfix.
