Files are missing from the Apache Tomcat and WebVision installation folders for a NuGenesis SDMS web server - WKB29240

SYMPTOMS

  • The WebVision site is not accessible; the server returns an HTTP 502 error code and the web client displays an error message that the server proxy is not available
  • On the NuGenesis server, the Apache Tomcat 6 service won't start, and it displays a "file not found" or "path not found" error message
  • The Auto IQ log file for the NuGenesis SDMS Application Server (when run with admin rights) shows one or more missing files
  • The "NuGenesis VISION Service" does not appear in the list of services

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Compare the files and folders in the Apache installation directory (Drive:\Program Files (x86)\apache-tomcat-6.0.29) with those on a NuGenesis server known to be good.
    • Typically, the \bin\tomcat6.exe file and a few related DLLs will be missing—20 total files in the \bin folder instead of the expected 25 files—and the \lib folder will be missing.
  2. Run the NuGenesis SDMS Application Server Auto IQ with admin rights and look for missing files. Take note of the expected name and path of each missing file.
  3. Copy the files from the good server to the equivalent locations in the problematic server.
  4. Register the NuGenesis VISION service with the following command in a command prompt with admin rights:
    • sc.exe create "NuGenesis VISION Server" binPath= "Drive:\Program Files (x86)\NuGenesis 8.0\Application Server\NG80wvls.exe" start= auto DisplayName= "NuGenesis VISION Server"
  5. Start the following services:
    • Apache Tomcat 6
    • NuGenesis VISION Server
