ANSWER

Here are some examples when Windows archive attribute will be changed on a file

  1. File is new (attribute set)
  2. File is modified (attribute set)
  3. NTFS permissions changed on the shared folder (attributes set)
  4. File is archived by external process (attribute removed)
  5. File is archive by SDMS, when using Reset archive bit option (attribute removed)
  6. File with archive attribute not set is copied from one NTFS volume to another (attribute set)
