Article number: 26463

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Restart a failed NuGenesis LMS document creation job instead of creating a new document.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 LMS
  • NuGenesis 8 LMS SR2
  • NuGenesis 8 LMS FR1

PROCEDURE

Use the NuGenesis LMS Jobs Manager Tool to restart the job.

  1. Install the Jobs Manager Tool:
    • This tool is included with the NuGenesis LMS Option kit, but it is not part of the standard LMS server or client installation procedure.
    • Insert the NuGenesis LMS Option disk or mount the ISO file and open the disk in Windows Explorer.
    • Open the Tools folder.
    • Unzip the contents of "JobsManagerTool.zip" into a new folder on the LMS client machine.
      • Example: Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Waters\NuGenesis LMS\JobsManagerTool
    • Run JobsManagerTool.exe.
    • When prompted, type the NuGenesis database server's hostname, port, instance name, and elnprod password.
    • Click OK to save the configuration and connect to the database.
  2. Find and restart the document creation job:
    • By default, the tool displays all failed jobs in the database, grouped by job type.
    • Look for failed jobs where the job type is "CREATEDOCUMENT".
    • Select each CREATEDOCUMENT entry and look at the error description of the job for the document ID.
    • Click Reactivate Job to restart the job.
    • The LMS background jobs system and the Document Creator Service attempts to build the document.
