Error "ORA-12504: TNS: listener was not given the SERVICE NAME in CONNECT DATA" when logging in to NuGenesis SDMS - WKB23856

SYMPTOMS

• The following error appears when logging in to SDMS Administrator or the SCC Manager:
  • [NG14529] ODBC driver reports error: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12504: TNS: listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA

ENVIRONMENT

• NuGenesis 8 SDMS 

CAUSE

The TNS_ADMIN variable is set to point to a TNSNAMES.ORA file that does not have the SDMS Oracle DB entry configured. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

Update the TNSNAMES.ORA file with the SDMS Oracle DB entry.
