How to configure debug logging for Waters Storage Gateway and a Centera storage device - WKB21397

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

To configure logging of debug messages in Waters Storage Gateway and the Centera SDK.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • Waters Storage Gateway 2.0 SP3
  • A NuGenesis OSM device configured for Storage Gateway
  • A DellEMC Centera storage device

PROCEDURE

  1. For the Storage Gateway service:
    1. Browse to Drive:\StorageGateway\actback\backend\properties\com\creon\qdisr\properties
    2. Open LoggingManager.properties in Wordpad
    3. Edit the following line: log4j.rootCategory=ERROR,CONSOLE,LOGFILE
    4. to: log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG,CONSOLE,LOGFILE
    5. Save and close the file
    6. Restart the StorageGateway Job Manager service
    7. The log file will be in Drive:\StorageGateway\actback\backend\bin\windows\manager.log
  2. For the Centera SDK on the Storage Gateway server:
    1. Open the Control Panel > System
    2. Click Advanced system settings > Environment Variables
    3. Set the following four variables:
      • FP_LOGPATH=%TEMP%\CenteraSDKDebug.log
      • FP_LOGFORMAT=TAB
      • FP_LOGLEVEL=4
      • FP_LOGKEEP=APPEND
    4. Restart the Storage Gateway services
