How to rename, uninstall, or reinstall a NuGenesis UNIFY printer queue - WKB197235

Article number: 197235

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Rename, delete, and/or install a NuGenesis UNIFY printer queue.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NuGenesis 9 SDMS
  • NuGenesis 8 SDMS
  • The NuGenesis UNIFY software is installed on a supported client or server version of Windows
  • One or more UNIFY printer queues are present

PROCEDURE

  • Rename:
    1. Open the Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    2. Right-click the NuGenesis UNIFY printer and click Printer Properties (NOTE: If there are two or more UNIFY queues present, the queues will be "stacked" and only one UNIFY printer will appear in the printer list; the individual queues will appear as a sub-menu below Printer Properties.)
    3. The Printer Name field is on the General tab
    4. Type a new name for the printer into the text box and click OK
  • Uninstall a queue (NOT uninstalling the UNIFY software):
    1. Open the Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    2. Right-click the NuGenesis UNIFY printer and click Remove Device (as with renaming a queue, if there are multiple queues present, they will appear as a sub-menu below Remove Device)
  • Install a UNIFY queue:
    1. Run the NuGenesis UNIFY software installation program
    2. The installation program finds the UNIFY software and prompts the user for the name of a new UNIFY queue
    3. Type a name for the queue and proceed with the installation process

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Renaming or deleting a queue are operations that are controlled by the "Manage printer" privilege on the printer. If users do not have this privilege, they will not be able to rename or delete a UNIFY queue.

The Unify print driver cannot be renamed or copied to another PC. A complete installation is required.
