SYMPTOMS

  • Inlet method continues to run after the runtime is achieved
  • Run time clock on the MasslLynx Status panel shows 0.00
  • During the method runtime, Runtime status in the ACQUITY MS Console shows a time of 0 to runtime (e.g., 0 to 4 mins for a Runtime = 4 mins)
  • After the runtime passes, runtime in the console shows a time range of runtime to a random time (e.g., 4 mins to 12 mins)
  • In the inlet method, all parts of the method are set to 4 mins.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • ACQUITY UPLC

CAUSE

One of the ACQUITY processes that run in the background is corrupted.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Close MassLynx and the ACQUITY MS Console.
  2. Browse to C:\Program File (x86)\Waters Instrument\bin.
  3. Locate the StopMasslynxProcesses.cmd.
  4. Double-click on StopMasslynxProcesses.cmd to execute the command file.
  5. Open MassLynx and confirm communication with the system.
  6. Run sample to verify that the sample ends at the runtime specified in the method.
