Cannot open inlet method editor after moving projects to an external location and reloading MassLynx - WKB66483

SYMPTOMS

• Cannot open inlet method editor from the lozenge under the Instrument shortcut menu
• Cannot open inlet method editor by right-clicking on method file in the sample list and selecting Edit
• Issue began after projects were moved to an external location and MassLynx was reinstalled

ENVIRONMENT

CAUSE

Corrupted project.ini file

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close MassLynx.
2. Browse to project (*.pro) folder.
3. Locate and delete the project.ini file.
4. Open MassLynx.
5. Right-click on Inlet Method file in the sample list, select Edit from the pop-up menu.
6. Go to File > Save As and save the inlet file in the ACQUDB folder of the project.
7. Close Inlet Method.
8. Click on the Inlet Method lozenge under the Instrument shortcut to open inlet method editor.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The project.ini file has the file path to the location where the project was created. If the project is moved, the project.ini file does not update automatically.

If the project.ini file is deleted, MassLynx creates a new file with the new file path for the current location of the project.
