How to process data offline in a MassLynx Secure environment - WKB612

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Acquire data on one PC and process the data on an offline PC while having only one copy of the data. (The data processing PC cannot have direct access to the acquisition PC, and MassLynx has Full Security enabled.)

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1
• MassLynx Full Security
• Quadrupole-based mass spectrometers (only)

PROCEDURE

1. MassLynx is installed on acquisition PC with full security.
2. MassLynx Desktop is installed on processing PC with full security.
3. A share\folder is created on a server reserved for MassLynx projects and data.
4. The share is mapped to the acquisition and processing PC.
5. The directory policy in MassLynx Security is configured to allow access to the share from MassLynx.
6. MassLynx projects are created directly on the share.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When MassLynx projects are created on a server share, methods are saved and data is written directly to the server. Data can be processed offline by opening the project that is saved on the server with the Desktop copy of MassLynx.

This configuration requires supplemental licenses of MassLynx 4.1 for each installation of MassLynx Desktop.
