Intermittent chromatogram display issue in MassLynx 4.1 with Security - WKB61155
SYMPTOMS
- Sometimes, when opening a multifunction data file in the MassLynx Chromatogram window, some mass chromatograms show no data. The scale on the y axis ranges from 100 to -100, and the intensity is zero. The data can be seen, however, when the sample is processed in TargetLynx.
- The problem affects only certain transitions in some samples in the batch. For example, one customer provided 3 samples, each with 9 functions. Each function had 3 MRM channels. The issue occurred only in two of the channels in function 4, in one in the samples.
- The sample names and functions are correctly listed in the Chromatogram Data Browser window.
ENVIRONMENT
- MassLynx 4.1 and 4.2 Full Security, all SCNs
CAUSE
This is an intermittent display defect. It occurs only when multifunction data files are displayed in MassLynx security.
FIX or WORKAROUND
In the chromatogram window, choose Display > Range > Default and select the "Automatic range default" check box. Then restart MassLynx.
June 2019: This issue is being fixed in SCN 997 for the Xevo TQ-S and Xevo TQ-MS.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When "Automatic range default" is enabled, it means that when the user opens a mass chromatogram and adds it to the existing ones being displayed, if the RT of the new peak is outside the existing window, MassLynx automatically expands the displayed range so that the new peak can be seen in the window. It saves the user from having to click on the "default range" button (the toolbar button with the crossed black arrows).
If you do not use Auto Range Default, when you open a new chromatogram, the displayed range will not be changed, so there is a risk that the peak in the new chromatogram will not be displayed.
