Can Windows file permissions be configured so that MassLynx files cannot be deleted at the Windows level? - WKB29245

Article number: 29245

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.1
  • MassLynx 4.2
  • Windows 7 Professional

ANSWER

Yes. To prevent users from deleting MassLynx files at the Windows level, the MassLynx projects must be created outside of the C:\Masslynx folder. The recommendation is to create a folder named, for example, MassLynx Project, at the root of C (C:\Masslynx Projects) or at a specified drive or network share location.

The user permissions on the MassLynx Projects folder would be Read, Write, and Execute, with the delete permission removed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The C:\Masslynx folder requires users to have Full Control of this folder; thus, the recommendation is that projects not be created in this folder.
