SYMPTOMS

• Cannot open the chromatogram from the sample list or from File > Open in the chromatogram window

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx

CAUSE

Illegal characters are used, and the file name is long.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Keep the file name under 22 characters long.
2. Do not use the following illegal characters:

• < (less than)
• > (greater than)
• :  (colon)
• "  (double quote)
• /  (forward slash)
• \  (backslash)
• |  (vertical bar or pipe)
• ? (question mark)
• *  (asterisk) 　
• -  (minus)　
•    (space)　
• .  (period/decimal point/full stop)

3. Re-acquire data with the correct file name.
