How to copy individual data point information from MassLynx analog chromatograms to a text file or spreadsheet - WKB249249

Article number: 249249

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Export analog chromatogram data from MassLynx to a text file or spreadsheet to allow it to be opened in other software and replotted.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.2
  • MassLynx 4.1
  • ACQUITY PDA

PROCEDURE

  1. In MassLynx, open the chromatogram function containing the Diode array data (usually the last function in the raw data folder).

  2. From the menu bar of MassLynx > Chromtogram, select Display > Wavelength.

  3. In the DAD Chromatogram options, specify the first wavelength of interest in the Description(nm) field and the appropriate value for the acquired data in the Abs Window(nm) field.

    • TIP - If you are not sure what the Abs Window (nm) value should be, open the Experimental Record, scroll down to the Waters Acquity PDA section, and look for Resolution. That value is the one you want.

  4. Press OK. The chromatogram for absorbance data acquired at the wavelength defined in the description field should be displayed in a new chromatogram.

  5. Select the chromatogram, and then, from the Chromatogram menu, select Edit > Copy Chromatogram List.

  6. Open a text editor (e.g., NotePad++) or spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel, Open Office Calc, Libre Office Calc) and paste the chromatogram list into a new file.

  7. Save the spreadsheet or text file.

  8. Select the diode array chromatogram again, and then repeat steps 2 through 7 for any other wavelengths of interest.
