SYMPTOMS

• "Scan speed in function 1 is outside the calibrated range of 100 to 2000 amu per second do you want to apply the calibration"
• Customer scan range is 60 to 2034, scan time is 0.3 sec, scan speed is 3253 amu/sec
• Customer is running an MS Scan

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY TQ Detector
• Xevo TQ-GC
• MassLynx

CAUSE

The scan speed, based on setting in the MS method, is too high.

FIX or WORKAROUND

There are two fixes:

1. In the MS method, set the Scan Time to 1 second. This will bring the scan speed to within the calibrated scan speed range.
2. In the MS method, change the function to MS2 scan (Function > MS2 Scan), leaving the scan range and scan time the same.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

On the ACQUITY TQD, MS1 is calibrated from 100 to 2000 amu/sec.  MS2 is calibrated from 100 to 10000 amu/sec.
