Where is Easymail in MassLynx SCN 1035? - WKB233497

Article number: 233497

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.2 SCN 1035
  • OALogin

ANSWER

From SCN 1035 onwards, Easymail is no longer part of MassLynx.  Easymail was seen as a security risk by some IT specialists, so it has been removed. New email functionality has been added to improve security, ease of use, and testing.

MassLynx now acts as an SMTP server to send emails. MassLynx allows you to configure secure or anonymous emailing for use with OALogin and MassLynx shutdown error notification.
The password indicated is not the email account password but the "App Password" for the emails server account (e.g. gmail, yahoo, etc)

An app password is a code that gives an application or device permission to access your Office 365 account. If your adminstrator has turned on multi-factor authentication for your organization, and you are using applications that connect to your Office 365 account - i.e. OALogin, then you will need to generate an app password, so OALogin can connect to Office 365.
