Cannot open MS method editor in MassLynx - WKB2056

SYMPTOMS

• MS Method does not open from the instrument shortcut on the left-hand panel
• Cannot open from the sample list (right-click > edit)

ENVIRONMENT

• Windows 7
• MassLynx 4.1

CAUSE

Sometimes, when the method editor is closed, the method1.exe remains open and can be seen on the processes tab in Task Manager. Manually closing this process allows the MS method editor to run.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Open Task Manager.
2. Go to the Processes tab.
3. Click the method1.exe* process.
4. Click End process.
5. Alternatively, reboot the PC.
