MSXML version 4 is no longer supported by Microsoft. Is it needed to run Empower, MassLynx or instrument drivers? - WKB199571

ANSWER

MSXML is required for many parts of MassLynx functionality, including ACQUITY drivers and Agilent ICF drivers. 

From SCN 1035 onwards, MassLynx has removed the dependency on MSXML 4. 

From SCN 1035, we have switched over to other versions of MSXML ( MSXML6 ) that are still supported by Microsoft. We removed this as part of removing cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

The Agilent ICF Support Layer requires MSXML 4. This will be moved to MSXML 6 for ICF Support Layer v3.7.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Certain Waters drivers leverage MSXML v4 libraries. Removal of MSXML libraries would be detrimental to Empower functionality.

The installed MSXML DLL files, if any will be found in the C:\Windows\System32 directory
