SYMPTOMS

• eSAT/IN error: Waters Generic Instrument Com Server Detector Method creating instrument failed with error 80010005 

ENVIRONMENT

• eSAT/IN module

CAUSE

MassLynx does not copy all method files into new projects unless they are based on the default project. If there is not a Default.esat method in the project Acqudb folder, new eSAT/IN methods cannot be created. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

A Default.esat method is provided in the Default project when MassLynx is installed. It can be copied to any new project that does not have this file.

Note: New projects should be created based on the Default project or a project based on it. This ensures that all required files are included in the new project.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This fix was found by using an old service note (attached below). However, it has been reported with other MS system configurations.
