2695 does not communicate to the inlet method - WKB1846

SYMPTOMS

• Download button (stack of papers) is unavailable
• The pump on icon does not work—it is active, but when selected, the pump does not turn on
• Remote icon is active
• If taken out of remote, the front panel on the 2695 works correctly; flow will turn on
• Hand icon is active—when you click on it, it says there is a method running, do you want to stop it?
• If hand icon is stopped, still no communication
• Ready and OK icons in the inlet method are green
• No error messages appear
• New inlet method does not solve the issue
• New project does not solve the issue
• The inlet method naming scheme is in the correct alphanumeric format
• Reconfiguring inlet to Shimadzu and back to Alliance does not resolve the issue

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1
• 2695/Alliance

CAUSE

MassLynx software is corrupt (most likely cause), or the PDA must be reset.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close MassLynx.
2. Run repair from add/remove programs under MassLynx (not tested/validated, so it isn't recommended, but it did work for this instance).
3. Open MassLynx and reset PDA communication inside of the inlet method.
