Article number: 1283

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Configure inlet event logging to capture inlet errors for troubleshooting.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx
  • Windows 7

PROCEDURE

MassLynx 4.1 has an advanced inlet logging utility that automatically runs in the default conditions.

  1. Close MassLynx.
  2. Switch to advanced settings; run the configuration tool found on the computer's C drive here: C:\MassLynx\InletEventLogConfiguration.exe.
  3. Logging Levels: Set to "Trace."
  4. Logging Type: Set to "Information."
  5. Logging Time: Set to 4 or 5 days at the bottom where is says "delete logs older than. . ." to preserve logs from weekend runs.
  6. Disable any subsystems options that are not applicable (e.g., Solvent monitor Exe, Solvent Monitor Mgr, Solvent Monitor Kernel, CTC options if a CTC is not in use).
  7. Click Apply, click OK,
  8. Double click on C:\MassLynx\InletEventLogger.exe and then restart MassLynx.
  9. In the event of an inlet error, collect the inlet log from C:\MassLynx\InletLogs (typical log name format is Log_YYYY_MM_DD.log).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Each log file is collected for a 24-hour period.
  • If there are no log files present in the InletLogs folder, it usually means that the logging levels are still set to the default, and that there have been no inlet errors.
  • See the attached Inlet event logging.pdf for reference.
