OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Review: Result Faults in Blanks for Must Peaks

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Empower Tip of the Week #377

PROCEDURE

It is normal behavior for a blank to be flagged due to a missing Must Peak, Default Peak, RT Reference Peak, or Internal Standard Peak.

STEP 1
This Sample Set has a blank, injected 3 times (figure 1).

STEP 2
On the Component tab of the Processing Method, Peak A is selected as a Must Peak. This means that Peak A must be found in every chromatogram (figure 2).

STEP 3
Peak A is not found in the blank, therefore, the result is flagged as Faulted and Result Code F01 is displayed (figure 3).

STEP 4
A similar situation is observed if an Internal Standard peak, a Default peak, and/or an RT Reference peak is missing. Like a Must Peak, these types of peaks must also be present in every chromatogram. The online Help defines the Result Codes that indicate if one of these peaks is missing (figure 4).
