System Policies: Login Window - Tip379

Article number: 286503

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

User Account System Policies and review Login Window Policies

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Empower Tip of the Week #379

PROCEDURE

STEP 1
Let’s look at the Login Window Policies (figure 1).

  • Don’t Allow Applications to stay running after logging off – If this policy is enabled when a user logs out or closes the Empower Login dialog box while other applications, such as the Method Editor, remain open, the user will not receive a message asking if he or she wants to leave Empower running. If other applications are still running, they are locked and cannot be accessed by the user.
  • Don’t allow multiple logins – If this policy is enabled, only one user can log on to Pro or QuickStart on the same computer. The Login button remains disabled in the Pro interface until the current user logs out.

STEP 2
Global Default User Interface – When users log on to Empower, their default user interface is Pro, QuickStart, or Walk-Up (figure 2).

STEP 3
The user's default interface in the user's account overrides this policy. For example, if the Global Default User Interface is set to QuickStart but the user’s account is set to Pro, then when the User logs on, Empower opens with the Pro Interface (figure 3).

STEP 4
Global Pro User Interface – Specifies whether to use the classic six-button Pro interface or the new Pro interface introduced for Empower 3, Feature Release 2 (figure 4).
