ANSWER
The "Sample Type" column is not displayed on the Create Sample Set screen.
On the Create Sample Set screen, select "Inject Standards" or "Inject Samples" in the "Function" column.
Perform the run, and the "Sample Type" column appears on the Alter Sample screen of the acquired sample set.
"Standard" or "Unknown" is determined by the function selected on the Create Sample Set screen.
