How to rename a LAC/E on the same Empower instance - WKB93844

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Rename a LAC/E on the same Empower instance/server.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise
• LAC/E32

PROCEDURE

1. Open Configuration Manager, click on a system, right-click and do export to text on all the systems to capture the current info (see WKB2121).

2. Delete all systems.

3. Delete the instsrv.dat file.

4. Delete the node from Empower.

5. In Windows, rename the LAC/E in question.

6. Add the LAC/E back to the domain.

7. Log in to Empower from the LAC/E. (That will automatically add it to the list of nodes in Empower.) 

8. Recreate the systems in Empower.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If you move the LAC/E from one instance to another, you must put the correct tnsnames.ora file on the LAC/E. You can copy the tnsnames.ora file from any other working LAC/E in the instance you are moving to.
