ORA-00257 error in Empower - WKB9033

SYMPTOMS

• ORA-00257 error when trying to log in to Empower

CAUSE

Hard drive space is low on the drive that contains the WatersCDSArchive1DB and WatersCDSArchive2DB folders.    

FIX or WORKAROUND

Increase hard drive space.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Because the hard drive space was low on the drive that contains the folders that house the archive logs, Oracle was unable to write to the archive log. This causes Oracle to shut down. This will happen if the archive folders are on different drives and either one of the drives runs low on space. It will also happen if the drive or folder is missing. Check the alert log boot up log events for the expected location of the destination folders.
