Adding a new "Result signoff 1 meanings" default string changes selections in the Valid Sign Off 1 Reason(s) system policy - WKB88937

Article number: 88937

SYMPTOMS

  • The list of Default Strings for "Result signoff 1 meanings" includes "Invalid" and "Valid"
  • The Valid Sign Off 1 Reason(s) system policy has "Invalid" selected
  • Go to the "Result signoff 1 meanings" Default Strings and add a new string named "Invalid-Failed", which then appears at the top of the list
  • The list of "Result signoff 1 meanings" Default Strings now includes "Invalid" and "Invalid-Failed", but Invalid is not now selected and "Invalid-Failed" is selected
  • If a string of "Failed-Invalid" is added instead of "Invalid-Failed", there are no unexpected changes

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3

CAUSE

This is a defect that occurs if there are multiple strings with the same characters at the beginning and a string is a subset of other string(s).

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. When adding default strings, ensure that a string that is a subset of other strings does not come before those strings in the list of default strings.
  2. For example, the order of strings can be Test, Test1, Test11 and there will be no problem, but the order Test11, Test1, Test will cause the defect.
  3. When adding default strings, the new string appears at the top of the list. Drag and drop can be used to move the string elsewhere in the list.

If the default signoff strings are listed so that the string above starts with the same text as a string lower in the list, then when the System Policy dialog is reopened and the Result Sign Off tab's Valid Sign Off Reason(s) list box is redisplayed, all the strings below the first string that are included in the upper string are automatically unchecked in the Signoff 1 list.

Workaround: Rearrange the list of default strings to list the sub-strings first.
