How to perform a manual injection on an Agilent GC 7890 using Empower - WKB86522

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

• How to perform manual injection with Empower controlled Agilent GC

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• Agilent GC
• GC 7890
• ICF 3.1
• ICF 3.2
• ICF 2.6 Update2
• Later versions such as ICF 3.4 and 3.5 have an options tab under Injector Preference of the Instrument Method Editor to allow for a manual injections if you have a dual port GC. The port that is not configured with the ALS can be used for manual injections. 

PROCEDURE

1. Turn off the power and disconnect the ALS cable so that the GC does not recognize the ALS injector.
2. In that state, read the config with Agilent Preconfiguration. There will be no auto sampler.
3. Creat a method (Not necessary if already created)
4. Start the run with Empower. It will be waiting for injection.
5. Start with the GC main unit (When injected with the manual injector, the start signal is input and the analysis starts)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Manual injection cannot be done without removing ALS.
